Catching up with life

During the season, I gave up the blog. Now that I really have nothing to do, except classes, I think I will start it up for a bit.

First, thse who know me know that over the past year, I have became more unbiased, and actually fought a lot with Yankees fans this offseason who think the Yankees need all the talent in baseball. I am more then satisfied with this offseason.

Also, those who know me know that in less then 6 months, I'll be leaving the MLB boards and blogs. I will continue blogging, and post a link here to my new location. I know I don't have really any followers, because I suck at this, but I really enjoy it.

Also, I will be a Franciscan Friar in a few years, so I am excited.

Ok, baseball.. Yankees won the world Series (Like I predicted) but lost Matsui and Damon. I thank them for their service in NY, but know it's time to move on. Ok, so far offseason winners:

Drumroll please...

Instead of going through a bunch of teams, I'm going to come out and say.. the Mariners.

Cliff Lee

Chone Figgins.

that is more talent then any other team added already.

the Red Sox got Lackey and Scutero

yankees got Vazquez and Granderson

Tigers got a lot of young players

Twins better sign an extention with Mauer ASAP. the best thing for baseball is for Mauer and Pujols to stay put. If they don't, it'll be the worst.

Giants got offensive. With their rotation, watch out in the west.

Ok, I'm done for now. thanks for your time, and take care baseball fans.

Fear the East

The AL and NL east are looking like tough divisions. FOrget my predictions. Screw them. They are of me being biased. from an unbiased viewpoint, I have to day the NL east race has tightened up. Philly and the Mets are going to be fun to watch in September. My prediction is that this division is going to be decided in the last week

The AL east looks good with the Rays, Red Sox, and Yanks improving. The Yankees may have thrown money at 3 players, but their payroll is still going to be lower then it was in 2008. The Rays will be better, more experienced, and wiser.  The RS also made vast improvements. I think the AL EAST is going to be won on the last day.

Andy Pettitte back?

Oooooo this is great news for us Yankees fans..

This could mean a rotation of:

CC

Wang

AJ

pettitte

Joba

With long relievers/Spot starters- Phily boy 1 and 2.

Ooo I'm soo excited for 2009 baseball in NYC!!!!

GOOO YANKEES!

(Sorry I'm not a better bloger, but I just am throwing up my opinions.. I'm rather unbiased, and have to say the RS have done a LOT of moves to get better. I'm a huge fan of Smolts, and I think he'll be a good addition for them)

2008 Vs 2009 rotation

08 Yankees:

Wang

Moose

Pettitte

Philly boy

Ian

2009:

CC

Wang

AJ (Claims to be past the injury bug

Joba

Philly Boy (I would MUCH rather have Aceves

With just comparing the opening day rotation, I think the Yankees upgraded here. Then you remember we lost Phil, ian, and Wang, and relaced them with the likes of Ponson, Rasner, and *gulp* Igawa...  Barring injury, I think the Yankees have upgraded here big time.

2009 AL East projections 2

With the recent signing of Tex, the Yankees are even BETTER now..

I think we are going to see the Jays and Orioles fighting 4th, with the Yank, Rays and RS battling for the top spot

PREDICTION:

Yankees

Rays *Wildcard

RS

Jays

Orioles

MLB network

Today I did some channel surfing, and I ran into the MLB Network. I have to say, after watching 3 hours of it, I have to say.. I LOVE IT.. MOB knocked this one out of the park.

I'm looking foward to checking it out this week..

Who else watched Larsen's Perfect game?? and what did you think??

I admit.. I have a man crush on Yogi.. So it was great to see him doing good..

OOOH.. BTW... ROBINSON WAS OUT!

Manny a Yankee?

The Yankees haven't given up on the idea od MAnny as a Yankee, and neiher has Manny..

DO we REALLY need ANOTHER aging outfielder?

Manny

Damon

Matsui

Lofton

Williams

And the others we've had in recent history.. Do we need ANOTHER?

AJ Burnett is a Yankee

That's right. 5 years 82 million dollars.. We have Pavano 2.0... (I say 2.0 because Pavano isn't as good as Aj.)

So the rotation is shaping up pretty nicely.

All we need is Pettitte

CC

Wang

Burnett

Pettitte

Joba

Who should be our next major target? Teix? Manny? Fuentes? Other?

Teix- We need a bat to protect A ROD, and Teix would be a perfect fit for the job. BUt how much do we spend on him? What is the highest bid right now?

Manny- Do we need another aging outfielder on this team? I say NO yo Manny being Manny

Fuentes- Our bullpen is good enough..

I have to say.. I think we have our 2009 New York Yankees

2009 AL East projections

I'm gonig to start talking about the moves the teams have made/ Will make

Let's start on top.. The Tampa Bay Rays:

They moved Edwin Jackson for OF- Joyce. Noe that solidifies Price's sot in the rotation. This move is an upgrade for the Rays both in the rotation and in the offense. I give the Rays offseason so far an A+

Red Sox:

No moves yet, BUT projected signing of Teixiera is going to help the RS.. SO far the RS offseason get a B

Yankees:

From Swisher to CC to Burnett to Pettitte.Maybe Carmona, no Tex, and keeping the young bullpen + mo together. I give the Yankees offseason so far an A+

BlueJays:

WOW.. Just WOW. A series Vs the Jays used to carry a guarunteed LOSS with the Doc and AJ. The Jays lost a lot with just losing Aj, and lost that guarunteed win per series. I haven't heard anything on their plans so far. I give the Jays offseason so far a BIG F.

Orioles:

What have they done? I think tha they are pretty much producing the same team, which with the Jays falling, could push up the Orioles to 4th. I give their offseason so far a D

PROJESTED STANDINGS:

1.) Yankees

2.) Rays (WC)

3.) Red Sox

4.) Orioles

5.) Blue Jeay (.500+)

First day of blogging

Hey.. This is try # 2 at a Yankees blog for me. We'll see how it works out.

My first blog wascreated well over a year ago, and it failed after A Rod's opt out.

Well, that's old news now..

The new news is the hot stove. I'll be following this like I have never followed any hot stove before.

First CONGRATS to the Mets on getting a bullpen, KROD and Putz both can close for you, and it will be interesting to watch the Mets bullpen unfold.

Now to the team I'm here for. The YAnkees:

I'm excited for the CC signing, and although  I'm not a huge Burnett fan, Think what he could be for us.. Our 2009 Yankees rotation is starting to take shape, and I'm liking it...

2009 rotation (Projected by Kev Sheehan)

CC Sabathia

Chein-Ming Wang

AJ Burnett

Joba Chaimberlain

Andy Pettitte

Looks good, huh?

About Melky now.

UGH!!! WHy would you trade a young Center Feilder for an aging outfielder of the same talent? WHere is this an upgrade? I was keep Melk and Brett, and let them start in Center. That is our best bet.

Ok.. Final thing... BRett and Melky can do a good enough job holding the position for AJAX. WE tried the aging Center Feilder thing before, remember? Williams, Lofton, and more recently Damon. I say no more aging Center Feilders EVER.
